Iltani Resources Limited (ASX: ILT), a small ASX-listed exploration company, announced on July 17, 2026 that it had completed first-pass ore-sorting test work at its Orient Silver-Indium Project in Queensland, Australia, using X-ray transmission (XRT) sorting technology. The announcement was reported the same day via mining.com.au.
Iltani Resources describes itself as an Australian exploration company building a portfolio of advanced exploration and development projects with what it calls a fundamentals-driven focus on the metals and critical raw materials needed for a clean energy future, according to the company. The company says its principal asset is the Herberton Project in North Queensland, where it is exploring for silver, indium, antimony, and copper, and it describes itself as offering exposure to silver, antimony, and indium alongside growing copper potential. Iltani Resources has framed the first-pass ore-sorting test work at Orient as a step toward that stated strategy, saying the results help establish whether XRT sorting can reject waste rock and upgrade grades in Orient ore ahead of the drilling and bulk sorting test work the company has planned.
According to the company, high-grade samples tested through the XRT process achieved a 58% mass rejection rate, with an average upgrade factor of 2.1 times. Iltani Resources said silver content in these samples rose from 130 grams per tonne to 265 grams per tonne, while indium content increased from 199 grams per tonne to 427 grams per tonne. Separately, the company reported that low-grade samples produced a 96% mass rejection rate, with upgrade factors ranging from 11.5 times to 16.1 times.
Iltani Resources said the Orient project hosts a JORC mineral resource estimate of 34.2 million tonnes grading 31.3 grams per tonne silver, 16.9 grams per tonne indium, 0.74% lead, and 0.90% zinc. The company describes Orient as Australia’s largest known silver-indium deposit, according to the announcement.
Looking ahead, the company said it plans to carry out a seven-hole PQ diamond drilling program at Orient. According to Iltani Resources, the drilling is intended to generate samples for bulk sorting test work to be conducted at TOMRA’s facility in Sydney.
The July 17, 2026 disclosure outlines the ore-sorting results and the resource estimate as reported by the company, along with its stated plans for further drilling and testing at the Queensland project.
